UVI Metro Evaluation Process (Tryouts):

For the 2008/09 season the selection process for teams will follow the format below and fall in accordance of the Metro Rules and Regulations:

  • A Head Technical Assessor will be appointed by the Metro Board to conduct, facilitate and oversee the evaluation process and final team selection.
  • A team of independent assessors will be appointed by the technical group.
  • The team will consist of a minimum 1 assessor per 10 players registered with a minimum set at 3 assessors.
  • There will be 3 evaluation sessions for each age group and gender, schedule to be posted once finalized under the "Schedule" tab at the top of the page.
  • Players are required to attend 3 sessions. Players that are injured are to register, contact the head assessor with a doctors note excusing them from the evaluations, but are still required to attend all sessions. Each session will be 2 hours, with the largest time spent on game situations.
  • Each assessor will evaluate the players and report back to the head assessor for player review once evaluations are completed.
  • Once the top players have been selected, the head assessor and the appointed coach will review the evaluations.
  • Once the coach and the head assessor have completed their listing of the players, the coach will conduct further evalautions on their own to select their team.
  • Once the coach has selected his/her final team selection, coaches are to submit thier final team list to the head assessor and to the UVI Metro Board.
  • The Metro Board will have final approval of the team listing. Once the board has approved the team list submitted from the coach, each player selected will be contacted by the coach for their appointment to the team.
  • Once a player has been selected they must register with the Metro Club within 14 days of accepting a position on the team.

Coaches / Assessor will be selecting players based on the criteria of placing the best "team" to support the Metro Club. Players are selected based on their abilites, but also taking into account the team dynamic and ensuring the Metro Club is competitive in the leagues in which they are placed into.

Special Notes:

Players may wish to tryout for an age group older than their current birthdates would place them in. Players may be selected to play in older age groups based on their abilities in that group. Players wishing to tryout for a team older than their age (playing up) must also ensure they tryout for their same age group, as if they miss the older age group selection, there is no guarantee to be placed on a team in their own age group without attending the selection process.

The goal of the UVI Metro Soccer Club is to place players into teams where they will best represent the abilites of the teams of the Metro Club. The Metro Club is working towards creating teams that are competitive in the boys and girls league and will place players and coaches in the best interest of the club they represent.
